Preparation Time

Preparation Time: 20 minutes (including thawing if using frozen lobster)

Cooking Time:

Fresh lobster: 12-15 minutes

Pre-steamed frozen lobster: 8-10 minutes

Servings: 2-3 people

Ingredients

Alaska lobster (fresh or frozen): 2 (about 500-600g each)

Unsalted butter: 100g

Garlic: 5-6 cloves (minced)

Olive oil: 2 tablespoons

Salt: 1/2 teaspoon

Black pepper: 1/4 teaspoon

Fresh parsley: 1 tablespoon (finely chopped)

Lemon juice: 1 tablespoon

Paprika (optional): 1/4 teaspoon (for a spicy kick)

Instructions

Prepare the Lobster:

If using frozen lobster: Thaw in the refrigerator for 4-6 hours or submerge in cold water (in a sealed bag) for 30-45 minutes. Rinse gently under cold water to remove any ice or debris.

If using fresh lobster: Rinse thoroughly under cold water.

Using a sharp knife, carefully split each lobster in half lengthwise from head to tail, keeping the shell intact for presentation.

Remove the dark vein (intestine) from the back of the lobster if present. Pat dry with paper towels.

Make the Garlic Butter Sauce:

Melt the unsalted butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.

Add olive oil, then sauté the minced garlic until lightly golden and fragrant (about 1-2 minutes).

Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice, salt, black pepper, chopped parsley, and paprika (if using). Mix well to create the garlic butter sauce.

Grill the Lobster:

Preheat your oven to 200°C (or prepare a charcoal/gas grill if preferred).

Place the lobster halves on a baking tray, meat side up.

Generously brush the garlic butter sauce over the lobster meat. Drizzle some sauce over the shell for extra flavor.

Grilling Time:

Fresh lobster: Grill in the oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the meat turns opaque white and the shell becomes bright red-orange.

Pre-steamed frozen lobster: Grill in the oven for 8-10 minutes, just enough to heat the meat through and infuse it with the garlic butter flavor. Avoid overcooking to prevent toughness.

Serve:

Remove the lobsters from the oven and sprinkle with additional chopped parsley for garnish.

Arrange on a serving platter with lemon wedges and any remaining garlic butter sauce for dipping.

Flavor Profile

Grilled Alaska lobster with garlic butter delivers a sweet, tender texture paired with the rich, aromatic garlic butter sauce. This dish is perfect for upscale dinner parties, holiday celebrations, or intimate family meals.

For an elevated experience, pair it with a chilled glass of white wine, such as Sauvignon Blanc or Chardonnay, to enhance the lobster’s sweetness and balance the buttery richness. A light lager beer is also a great match. Serve with a fresh green salad or creamy mashed potatoes for a complete meal.
