  • 1 kg fresh king crab
  • 2 liters of water
  • 1/2 onion
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 3 fresh chili peppers
  • 2 turnips
  • 2 bunches of Thai basil
  • 2 bunches of lime leaves
  • 3 carrots
  • 1 beetroot
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 2 bok choy
  • 1/2 cucumber
  • 2 limes
  • 2 tablespoons of fish sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of cooking oil
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • Salt, pepper, herbs (optional)


  1. Cut the king crab into bite-sized pieces, rinse and put them in a pot with the water.
  2. Finely chop the onion, garlic and chili peppers, then add them to the pot with the king crab.
  3. Add the turnips, beetroot, carrots, tomatoes, bok choy and cucumber to the pot and bring to a boil for about 10 minutes.
  4. Add the lime leaves and Thai basil to the pot and simmer for an additional 2 minutes.
  5. Add fish sauce, cooking oil, sugar, salt and pepper to the pot and stir well.
  6. Turn off the heat and let the pot sit in a cool place for 5 minutes to allow the flavors to blend.
  7. Squeeze lime juice into the pot before serving and garnish with herbs.
